AIRO, founded in 2006 and incorporated in 2011, offers a full range of landscape architecture and design, land use planning, and development services. This includes landscape master planning; public, commercial and residential landscape architecture and design; environmental assessments and studies, policy and regulation development and amendments.

AIRO also offers ‘turn-key’ landscape construction, maintenance services, and most recently, irrigation installation. AIRO works in a design-build capacity, working in collaboration between planners, architects, engineers, designers, construction crews and clients to ensure everything flows seamlessly from the design concept through to final construction. AIRO’s team is highly knowledgeable in construction practices and techniques, quoting, job costing, and all areas of project management from beginning to end.

AIRO promotes innovative and sustainable practices and principles. We focus on ecological design, utilizing patterns observed in our natural ecosystems to create regenerative and self-maintained habitats. We work on reducing and controlling storm water run-off and replenishing groundwater by capturing, infiltrating and treating run-off using systems such as bio-filtering of wastes through constructed wetlands, retention ponds or bio-swales. Other interventions we utilize include reducing water consumption through xeriscaping or using grey and rainwater harvesting, moderating and mitigating urban climate extremes, conserving and maintaining healthy soil, removing contaminants through techniques such as phytoremediation, promoting healthy plant growth, producing oxygen and sequestering carbon by using techniques such as permaculture, preserving and enhancing wildlife habitat, using integrated pest management techniques, recycling and use of local building materials, and using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.

Creating sustainable and livable communities ensures that ecological functions within the neighbourhood are preserved and enhanced, sensitive areas are protected, and residents have access to natural landscapes and green spaces where they can work, shop, and play. We provide green solutions - to beautify landscapes, foster sustainable ecosystems, enhance energy conservation, reduce carbon footprint, and contribute to health - which contributes to a healthier planet.
